From the 20th – 30th of September Green Phenix went on a trade mission to the Netherlands. The aim was to explore potential collaborations, get more exposure and look for alternative machinery so that we will be able to recycle a larger part of the plastic waste that is collected on Curacao and transform the waste into new products.
We met some very inspirational people, like Nout Kooij (VanPlestik) & Dave Hakkens (Precious Plastic) and we were welcomed by companies that were very interesting for us. Granuband not only gave us a tour of their facilities, they also donated a pressing machine as a sign of support to our cause. Wow, just wow. We also formed a partnership with ‘Look for Detail’ and we will be selling their “Soupdresses” made out recycled plastic from 17 PET bottles. We believe these dresses show the untapped potential as waste plastic as a valuable resource and that these dresses will greatly add to raising awareness.
We visited the “Kunststoffenbeurs” in Veldhoven. Got contact information from some of the bigger plastic companies and gained some new insights. Sabine also was able to pitch 2 times. Once for the Startup Funding Event for the Amsterdam Capital week in Rotterdam and once as one of the 7 people to pitch during the 'Impact tour' that was organized by Present your Startup also as an event in the Amsterdam Capital week. We also had an interesting photoshoot with the “Soupdresses” and an interview with the AD.
In short a week filled with meetings, activities and inspiration. Now we are back on Curacao and we will use the following 2 weeks to set out the direction of the following month.
